In order to get a better look at the build process I purchased the Drawings and Manuals which got me a serial number for my build. The manuals situation is a bit confusing, it doesn’t look like there is a set of up to date manuals for the 650B, rather you use the (in some cases) 20 year old photo guide for the 601 XL and then there are some published exceptions for the 650. Complicating matters more is the fact that all (?) the holes are now match drilled so a lot of the work in the manuals is out of date. I wonder how challenging that will be to follow.
A quick look through the plans and as before I am in awe of anyone who can scratch build, I have no idea how to turn those drawings into metal. Just looking at the assembly pages like this one reminds me just how much work there is in building these planes, but a lot less than many other popular brands.
Still haven’t officially decided to go for it but seems likely….
